Review: Mated to the Meerkat

Mated to the Meerkat Mated to the Meerkat by Lia Silver
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

So imagine you are talking to your son about shifter romances, and he asks if there are any about meerkats. Well, any good mother would be obliged to find one, and then read it, right?

This one was surprisingly cute and funny. I don't read a lot of shifter books, but I liked it. Recommend if you like shifter romances with sparks and you can suspend disbelief enough to enjoy the story. Plus, it's short but sweet. 3 stars.

Review: Becoming Alpha

Becoming Alpha Becoming Alpha by Aileen Erin
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Pretty decent start to a new series. I am going to choose to ignore the insta-love in this case because a) you knew it was coming from the book blurb, b) it's young adult, and it goes with the territory, and c) it worked in a really weird way.

Tessa has a strange condition, and her parents somehow roll with it. Ok. Cool parents, I guess. Turns out she's a witch. Witches and werewolves don't mix, until they do. Then it becomes Hogwarts for wolves and peculiar children, and we are off to the races. With angsty love, because what is high school without it.

Strife, battles, and good vs. evil. Good enough to read book 2 to see where it's going.

Review: Romeo Alpha, Book 1

Romeo Alpha, Book 1 Romeo Alpha, Book 1 by Darla Dunbar
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

Imagine you are just told you had a long-lost relative who left you a mansion. Do you:
a) ask more questions and go see the house
b) tell yourself it's too much to deal with and wait until tomorrow to find out more

If you choose B, this book is for you. If you choose A, I have saved you 90 minutes of your life. Put this book down and move on. This heroine is too stupid to live. 1 star.

Review: Forever

Forever Forever by Maggie Stiefvater
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

We reach the end of our wolves of Mercy Falls saga, and not a moment too soon. Things are mostly tied up in a bow at the end.

It somehow became less about Grace and Sam, and more about Cole and Isabel. Which wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but it felt like the author decided the side characters were more interesting than the main ones. But overall it was a fine young adult paranormal series, which is what it was meant to be. Three stars.

Review: Bear's Gold (Erotic Shifter Fairy Tales #1)

Bear's Gold (Erotic Shifter Fairy Tales, #1)Bear's Gold by Yvette Hines

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I've never read an erotic shifter romance. Very new genre for me. It was pretty ok.

Riley gets into a car accident while fleeing her creepy, terrible ex. She's rescued by Theo, who is a hot were-bear with two cute twin were-bear boys. And he lives in Den County (get it, Den?) with an entire community of were-bears.

It was fun, a little cheesy, and had my favorite kind of ending: HEA.
